Your hosts – History of the Posthotel in Radstadt
Development of the Posthotel in Radstadt, Salzburger Land
The Posthotel in Radstadt is steeped in tradition and is one of the oldest buildings in the centre of Radstadt. The local post office with its stables was located in this building. In 1910 the old post office building was reopened as a hotel. In 1927 our great-grandmother Frau Jasny Lisl, restauranteur with heart and soul, purchased the Hotel Post and took the reins of this traditional hotel. Her niece Frau Walter Johanna took over after her and ran the business successfully. Due to lack of successors the hotel was leased and since 2008 the Hotel Post has been back under family management.
The two sisters Eva-Maria and Margit are managing the hotel which is located downtown Radstadt since May 2008. After long internships and education in the hotel business the two ladies worked in traditional high quality hotels such as Restaurant Obauer in Werfen (Gault & Millau – Chefs of the Century 2003 – 2012) and the 5 star Hotel Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg (Luxury Collection Hotel)
We pay a lot of attention to regional and high quality products and try to avoid cheap products from foreign countries. Our local butcher Josef Ladinger supplies us with the best possible meat products, our daily bread is delivered by our bakery Josef Kirchgasser and regional vegetable and fruit products are from Styria and provided from Karl & Christina Wimmer every friday.
Although we did a lot of renovation works throughout the years it was always of importance to keep the old flair of the historic building Hotel Post in downtown Radstadt. Timeless elegance and comfort combined with old vaults to keep the history alive are most important to us.
